SAN ANTONIO -

An Army soldier who was found injured at Fort Sam Houston has died, Army officials said Sunday.

Fort Sam police responded to the Wilson Gate area around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Someone found the soldier severely injured near barracks that house soldiers who are permanently assigned to Fort Sam Houston.

The soldier was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he later died.

The death is currently under investigation, but officials would not say if it was being investigated as a homicide. The soldier’s name and age have not been released.
