SOUND OFF: Do you care about unrest in Ukraine?
Days of deadly fighting in Kiev lead to limits on president's powers
Ukraine's parliament has passed legislation to limit the powers of President Viktor Yanukovych and free jailed former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, a powerful symbol to the opposition.
The changes are a huge shift from just a day ago, when Yanukovych sent security forces into the streets of Kiev to battle protesters angry about his pivot toward Russia, among other issues.
The violent crisis in Ukraine boiled over this week amid protests against Yanukovych. On Tuesday, security forces fought against gathered protesters in Kiev with water cannons, stun grenades, night sticks and armored personnel carriers.
Government officials declared a truce Wednesday that proved to be brief. The cease-fire was broken Thursday when fighting broke out again.
Despite the bloodshed in Kiev, many Americans aren't aware of the causes of the fighting. Do you care about the political unrest in Ukraine? Weigh in below.
