SAN ANTONIO -

Arctic air from Canada will be heading to South Texas starting on Thursday.

This cold air will be mixing with precipitation starting late Thursday afternoon in the Hill Country.

The mix precipitation will then move further south into San Antonio late Thursday into early Friday.

A winter storm advisory will also go into effect for all of the Hill Country and south central Texas from midnight Thursday through noon Friday.

We’re expecting freezing rain, sleet, and even some light snow (mainly in the Hill Country) by the time the weather system exits our area on Friday.

In the Hill Country, some snow accumulations will be possible. In San Antonio, we’re expecting the possibility of freezing rain and sleet.

What is certain is we will have cold temperatures and precipitation. Bridges and overpasses across the area will under the threat of some freezing.

The questions that still remain are how much precipitation we will see and how will it truly act with the cold air?

If the vertical profile of the atmosphere changes just a little bit, our forecast will significantly change.

We’ll be fine tuning our forecasts with the most up to date weather information. Stay tuned to KSAT12 and KSAT.com for updates.
