SAN ANTONIO -

Two men were hospitalized after they were shot and apparently crashed into a telephone pole. Shots were fired just after 9 p.m. Monday on the South Side.

San Antonio police believe the two victims were shot in another location, but ended up at Buffalo and Brighton, where their car ended up hitting a telephone pole.

Witnesses said that's when both of the men jumped out and tried to run down the street for help. Both suffered gunshot wounds to their upper body.

The driver was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center while the passenger was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

It remains under investigation why the men were targeted. No arrests had been made late Monday night.
