NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Continued rainfall over the past several weeks has allowed the Edwards Aquifer to recover to a point where the city returned to Stage I watering restrictions Tuesday.
“The aquifer has remained above 650 feet for over 30 days,” Gretchen Reuwer, public affairs manager at New Braunfels Utilities, said. “We encourage our customers to only water when absolutely necessary and to take steps to make their use of water in the landscape and garden as efficient as possible."

Use of a sprinkler or irrigation system will be allowed one day per week before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. A hand-held hose, bucket, soaker hose or drip irrigation system can be used at any time on any day.
"With the wetter weather we have been having, customers should be aware that saturated landscapes can lead to water waste from runoff," Reuwer said. "We ask that you make any needed adjustments to the length of time and the frequency of sprinkler use to ensure that this does not take place.”
