SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Fire Department evacuated guests at a Northeast Side motel early Friday morning due to a fire overnight.
The fire was reported just before 2 a.m. at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, located in the 2700 block of I-35 North.
Firefighters said when they arrived they saw heavy smoke coming out of the building. Officials said the fire started in a small storeroom under the stairs. The fire did not spread to any of the rooms, firefighters said.
All the guests were evacuated and no one was hurt.
At this time the amount of damage and cause of the fire are not known.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
