Officials at Schreiner University in Kerrville say a student was assaulted inside her apartment on campus around 2 a.m. on Thursday.
The victim was treated at the hospital and has been released.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with our student and her family during this difficult time. We are working closely with the Kerrville Police Department in every way possible and we are increasing our security patrols to ensure that all our students are safe," said Dr. Charlie McCormick, Schreiner provost and vice president for academic affairs, in a released statement.
McCormick added that there will be an increased presence of residence assistants in the dorms.
Schreiner is requesting increased patrols from the Kerrville Police Department as well.
Students were informed of the incident and campus police has reminded students to keep their doors locked at all times and travel in groups at night.
