SAN ANTONIO -

It was a happy homecoming at San Antonio International Airport on Friday, as a local Air Force member popped the question to his girlfriend of three years after returning home from a six-month tour overseas.

Air Force Tech Sgt. Michael Nelson Nelson proposed marriage to Diana Villarreal, among a crowd of friends and family at the airport's Terminal B.

"I couldn't think of a better way to surprise her, and have all our friends and family there when I did it," Nelson said. "So I thought today would have been perfect."

Villarreal said the couple had already been talking about getting married, but she didn't know how the proposal would happen.

"I was surprised, happy, and overwhelmed," Villarreal said. "We've been together. We've been a family from Day 1, so it's just sealing the deal basically."

The newly-engaged couple is wasting no time tying the knot.

In fact, they plan on getting married on Monday.
