SAN ANTONIO -

An 18-year-old man identified as Gustavo Moradel-Romero is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a man found inside his burning north San Antonio home last November.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the victim, Javier Santos Caballero, 24, was stabbed and beaten in the head on Nov. 28. His home in the 500 block of General Krueger was then set on fire.

Firefighters at the scene said two friends discovered the fire while looking for Caballero, who had failed to meet them at a night club.

At the time, investigators revealed very little information, saying only that the death was suspicious, and the victim's car was missing.

The affidavit stated that the missing car was found in San Marcos a few days after Caballero's death.  The vehicle had been set on fire, the affidavit stated.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video from a property owner and said it showed the person who started the car fire leaving in a different vehicle, the affidavit stated.

They were able to use that vehicle information as well as information from a witness to track down Moradel-Romero.

He was arrested Tuesday on a charge of murder and booked into the Bexar County Jail.
