SUV crash causes gas leak, forces evacuation
Families forced to leave until CPS turned gas off
An SUV driver lost control, crashed into a home and caused a gas leak that forced neighboring families to evacuate.
The crash and leak happened around 9 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Bentridge in northeast Bexar county.
Sheriff's deputies first on scene reported gas spewing from a busted line.
They started to evacuate people in the immediate area.
The Converse fire department said they got residents from six homes away from that flowing gas.
CPS showed up and turned the gas off a short time later.
The fire department said it is not known why the SUV driver lost control and hit the home and gas line.
An ambulance took that driver to the hospital for treatment.
