A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday by the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in San Marcos.
An arrest warrant was issued for Johnny Jo Luna pursuant to an investigation by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, on charges involving the attempt to commit capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony criminal mischief.
On Jan. 23, members of the LSFTF initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Luna.
Task force officers determined that Luna was hiding out at an apartment in the 1500 block of South IH-35 in San Marcos.
Monday task force officers conducted a brief surveillance and approached the apartment.
Task force officers entered the apartment, identified themselves and made contact with Luna. Luna was then taken into custody without incident.
In October 2012, Luna was allegedly involved in violently and brutally assaulting a man in Canyon Lake.
After a thorough investigation by detectives, last week a Comal County district court judge issued a warrant for Luna’s arrest.
Luna is currently being held in custody at the Hays County Jail awaiting extradition to Comal County to face pending charges.
