A teenage male is accused of setting fire to the home of an elderly West Side woman, then returning to the scene of the crime and starting another fire. Michael Waldron, 17, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of arson.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that San Antonio firefighters were called out around 2 a.m. Saturday for the first fire at the home in the 5000 block of Roan Brook.

Inside the home, they said they found the walls covered with soot, as well as several holes that had been punched in the walls, the affidavit stated. Firefighters said the kitchen floor also was covered in laundry detergent.

A witness told arson investigators that she saw Waldron and his friends go into the home, and noticed a car in the driveway that belonged to one of them, the affidavit stated.

Later that evening, another neighbor reported seeing Waldron enter the home again, then come out wearing a ski mask, the affidavit stated.

The neighbor told investigators that when he confronted him, Waldron told him there was another fire burning inside the home, the affidavit stated.

Investigators confirmed there was a second fire that had been set there. They said this time, however, they found motor oil covering the kitchen floor.

According to the affidavit, Waldron ran from the scene after the second fire.
