A would-be burglar escaped police custody only to be caught a second time.

It happened around 3 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Sandra on the city's south side.

Police said a neighbor called 911 and reported seeing a teenage boy crawl inside a home.

Park police were first on the scene and saw the teen crawl back out of the house.

He was handcuffed, but as the officer attempted to put him in the patrol car, he ran.

He only got three blocks away before he was tackled to the ground.

Officers recovered jewelry, money and hundreds of dollars worth of electronics.

The teen will be charged with burglary and evading arrest.
