The Alamo Area Mutual Housing Association is asking for the public's help in catching a group of teens that tagged the walls of their homes.
It happened early Saturday morning at the Western Hills Apartments located on Tomar Drive.
Michael Shackelford with the Alamo Area Mutual Housing Association said some of the residents witnessed a group of teens defacing their property that Saturday morning, but they got away.
"They were not caught, but they were seen," said Shackelford. "They ran off, but they left some evidence behind -- a spray can."
Shackelford said at least five of the buildings on the property were vandalized, as well as some other signs and fences in the immediate area.
The association provides affordable housing to working residents in the area, as well as homeless veterans.
"It really disgusts us because we provide affordable housing," said Shackelford. "Money is tight right now and this is work that we didn't account for in the budget. It really sets us back on our services."
For now, Shackelford said they are doing what they can to cover the up graffiti, but that the money they spend fixing up things takes away from helping more veterans.
"This is going to cost us some money to repair," he said. "We have to replace signs, repaint the walls and do some major work around the area. It really takes away from the services that we provide for the general folks in San Antonio."
The Alamo Area Mutual Housing Association is asking anyone who knows anything about the graffiti at the public housing complex to please call police at 207-7273.
