HOUSTON – Televangelist and pastor Joel Osteen is being criticized on social media for using the "Hook 'Em" hand sign at his son's graduation from the University of Texas.
In a photo posted to Osteen's Twitter account, Osteen can be seen posing with his son, Jonathan, while making the hand gesture, which resembles horns.

The sign means "cattle," which is supposed to represent the school's mascot, the longhorn.
However, the gesture is also seen as a sign of evil or the devil, a similarity that upset some of Osteen's followers.
A few users responded to the critics, trying to clarify that the sign was the official one used by the university.
So far, neither Osteen nor his wife have responded publicly to the criticism.
