Thieves target Chevy trucks in NW Bexar County neighborhood

Chevy pickup rims stolen

SAN ANTONIO – A Northwest Bexar County woman is having a tough week after someone stole the tires and rims off her deceased father's pickup truck.

Just four days after her father was laid to rest, Priscilla Salas found the four factory rims on his 2016 Chevy Silverado gone from the pickup that was parked in the front driveway of her home in the 10000 block of Red Musket Trail. The truck was sitting on cement blocks and the lugnuts were thrown on the lawn.

Salas said a Bexar County sheriff's deputy told her she wasn't the only pickup theft victim in her neighborhood, and thieves are targeting Chevrolet pickups.

She said she's glad that her father wasn't alive to witness the theft.

"This (the truck) is all he wanted before he died. And to come outside and see it sitting the way it is right now is just very disappointing. It's frustrating," she said.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said this type of crime is a common occurrence.
