Three men are facing charges in connection with an alleged plan to sneak a cellphone to an inmate at the Bexar County Jail.
Roy Ponce, 22, his brother Roland Ponce, 24, and Stephen Kpehe, 20, are all charged with bringing a prohibited substance or item into a correctional facility.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the cellphone was sneaked into the jail by Kpehe (pictured below) in early December.
The affidavit stated Kpehe was a civilian employee who worked in the jail commissary.
Khepe told investigators he met a family member of Roy Ponce's at a local restaurant and agreed to sneak in the cellphone, then give it to Roland Ponce for $250.
Khepe told investigators he hid the cellphone and a charger inside a box of sugar substitute.
Deputies later found the items in Roland Ponce's jail cell, the affidavit stated.
The affidavit did not state why Roland Ponce was in jail at the time or what other charges he previously faced.
A mugshot for Stephen Kpehe was not available at the time of this story's publication.
