SAN ANTONIO -

A Tiger Sanitation worker died Tuesday after he was hit by an SUV on the city's southeast side, officials say.

Investigators said the accident happened just before 8 a.m. on New Sulphur Springs Road near Loop 410.

The man had been working with his son.

They parked their truck and got out and that's when the father was hit by a passing SUV, investigators said.

The driver of that SUV did stop and a medical helicopter was called out, but the man died before he could be taken to the hospital.

He has not been publicly identified.
