TJ Maxx distribution center to open in SA, bring jobs, perks for city

TJ Maxx to invest $150M in project that would bring new school to Southside ISD

SAN ANTONIO – A new TJ Maxx distribution center is expected to bring 1,000 jobs to the city of San Antonio.

The City Council approved an agreement Thursday for the center to be built on the city's south side, just west of the historic Mission Espada.

TJ Maxx has agreed to invest $150 million in the project, which would also include the creation of a natural development buffer around Mission Espada, and connect the bike and hike trails on the Medina River greenway to the trails along the San Antonio River.

The Fortune 100 company has also agreed to provide a new school for Southside Independent School District.

The distribution center is expected to open July 2019.
