Tobin Center project nearing its end

$205 million project on track for September dedication

SAN ANTONIO – The project to transform the old Municipal Auditorium into the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts is entering its final stages.

The sign for the new Tobin Center was unveiled Friday as part of the $205 million project.

The facade of the old building will remain the same, but everything else will be improved upon.

"The acoustics are going to be world-class. The seating, the sight lines, the amenities, the bathrooms are all going to be like the city has never seen before," said Michael Fresher, Tobin Center president and CEO.

Construction is on track for the Sept. 4 dedication of the building.

The upcoming season is fully booked with more than 400 events in the first year.
