A traveling truck driver is facing charges in connection with a child prostitution case after investigators used a text message to draw him to Texas.
61-year-old James Newby's arrest is the result of an investigation that began this summer.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that a 16-year-old girl told investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety in August that she was being forced to work as a prostitute.
The affidavit stated that during the investigation, the girl also told detectives that Newby had been one of her customers, and supplied them with his phone number which was saved in her cell phone.
A detective posing as the teen then sent Newby a text message, inviting him to have sex with the teen again, the affidavit stated. Investigators said that Newby replied that he was interested but was on the road at the time, the affidavit stated.
Newby, who is licensed in Arizona, was arrested in San Antonio Thursday on a charge of sexual assault of a child.
