Two East side shootings send teens to hospital

The incidents were unrelated, SAPD said

SAN ANTONIO – Two separate early Saturday morning shootings on the East Side sent two teens to the hospital.

The first shooting happened in the 3500 block of East Commerce Street.

Police found a 17-year-old lying on the sidewalk around 2 a.m. He told police he was selling marijuana at a nearby park when someone shot him in the back.

The teen was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in stable condition.

About 3:30 a.m., a confrontation between two groups of people led to another shooting, police said.

The shooting happened on South W. W. White Road near Readwell Drive.

One group took off in their car, and at least one person from the other group opened fire, police said.

Police said more than a dozen shots were fired, and one bullet hit a teenager who was riding in the back seat.

He was hit in the back and transported to SAMMC in critical condition.

Both shootings are still under investigation.
