SAN ANTONIO -

South Texas congressman, Henry Cuellar has pushed the idea of a high speed rail from San Antonio to Monterrey, Mexico.

Cuellar met late last week with Texas and United States transportation leaders as well as Mexico's transportation secretary.

According to Cuellar, the new rail line would cut train travel time between the two cities down to about two hours.

He says construction could start next year and would take about three years to complete.

The only thing holding up construction is the money to pay for it.

Project supporters are now looking for private investors.
