Unique summer program prepares kids for job market

Trinity University hosting STEM summer learning program

SAN ANTONIO – A unique summer program at Trinity University is helping prepare students for the booming technical job market.

ID Tech Camp specializes in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

Students at the camp are separated into age groups and interests.

"We built the robot together. We make changes on it together and we help each other make the codes," Kirsten Scott, an ID Tech camper said.

Scott, 11, and Jose Ortega, 12, are working as a team in their robotics class.

"Any program takes time. You need to make sure you have it right," Ortega said.

Students can choose from robotics, 3-D game design, photography and web design.

While students are learning a variety of skills, they are also gaining self-confidence and will have a competitive advantage in both school and future careers.
