SAN ANTONIO -

U.S. Highway 281 remained closed Monday morning after heavy flooding Saturday.

The closure includes the ramps from Loop 410 eastbound and westbound to U.S. 281 South.

Basse road, right under U.S. 281, by the Quarry was completely under water Sunday evening.

And on the other side of 281, the Olmos Basin Golf Course was flooded, as well as the access roads leading to 281.

Sunday afternoon, dozens of people came out to take a look and to take pictures of the flooded Olmos Basin.

"We were able to get out of the car and look up to 281 and you can see the signs out here for the exits," said Rachel Mc Farland. "It just looks like there's just a lake."

"Debris is everywhere if you go up there," said Christian Umana. "That's  the only way how to put it. Pretty sad to see, but hope it gets cleaned up soon."

U.S. 281 Northbound was still closed at Hildebrand and U.S. 281 Southbound was closed at Jones Maltsberger  by the Quarry as of Sunday night.

Texas Department of Transportation officials said to expect 281 to remain closed at least through Monday.
