BAYTOWN, Texas -

The viewing for Robert Cameron Redus was a held at the Navarre funeral home in Baytown, just east of Houston. Redus an honor student at the University of the Incarnate Word was shot and killed by a campus police officer.

"He's such a good person at heart and that why I think it's so hard to believe what everybody is saying" said friend and teammate, Alyssa Gomez.

Dozens of classmates and friend made the drive from San Antonio to show their support.

"He was actually one of our very good friends a teammate and brother so it's very hard for us to come out and do this,"said friend, Dalyssa Gonzalez.

Redus was shot and killed after the Alamo heights Police department says Corporal Chris Carter, an on duty campus police officer pulled Redus over for driving erratically.  Police say Redus was uncooperative when asked  to put his hand behind his back. According to police, he was told to quit resisting 56 times. He also charged at police took the officers baton and struck him with it.

"It hadn't really hit me yet because I've been (home) since it's break," said friend Sheila Hernandez.

Redus will be laid to rest Thursday at 2 p.m.
