SAN ANTONIO -

The Bexar County Medical Examiner is still investigating the death of Michael Serna.

The 37-year-old’s body was found stuffed in the back of his car Thursday in the 700 block of 35th Street.

With a number of questions surrounding his suspicious death, Serna’s family held a candlelight vigil Saturday to pay their respects to the man they called “Mikey”.

“He was a loving brother, loving father,” said Serna’s oldest brother Mark. “He was young. We weren't expecting it to happen this fast. I was thinking he was going to live out me and my little brother.”

Serna’s family said he had been missing since Tuesday.

His body was found 2 days later in the 700 block of 35th street, stuffed in the back of his SUV.

The cause of death has yet to be established, but there were no signs of trauma to his body.

Serna’s older brother Juan said he wants to know what happened, but what upsets him the most is that Michael’s body was just left out in the open.

“The fact of the matter is that somebody came, delivered him, and put him in the truck and dumped him here,” said Serna’s older brother Juan, “Nobody deserves that.”

A barbecue fundraiser will be held Sunday at 119 Oak Valley from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help the Serna family pay for the funeral.
