Visitors' smiles follow re-opening of San Antonio missions
Government shutdown forced parks' closures
The weather was perfect -- sunny and warm -- Thursday for visitors returning to the San Antonio Missions National Parks.
But not all visitors had a sunny disposition about the 16-day government shutdown that forced the missions to close their doors.
Ralph Buchanan and his wife, Jeine, were visiting San Antonio from South Carolina and Florida.
The missions were high on their list of places to visit.
“They should have been open all the time,” Buchanan said. “It was Obama’s fault that everything was shut down.”
Politics aside, he said, they are happy that they were able to tour the grounds at Mission San Jose.
“This is the history of America -- the history of Texas,” Buchanan said. “Everyone who lives in Texas should be very proud of this.”
