SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio firefighters and police were called to clean up a watery mess at a local elementary school Sunday evening.

Crews responded to an alarm call at Woodlawn Elementary school in the 1700 block of West Magnolia Avenue around 6:30 p.m. to search for signs of a fire. But they found 5 to 6 feet of water filling the school's basement instead.

Police said it appeared a burglar alarm went off but they were not sure how it affected the water flow into the basement.

Crews had to pump the water out of the school. Nothing valuable was kept in the basement. Authorities said it will not affect classes on Monday.
