A west Bexar County homeowner opened fire on two alleged car burglars early Friday morning, sheriff's deputies said.

The homeowner told Bexar County sheriff's deputies he heard noises outside his home in the 700 block of Campion Road around 4:30 a.m.

The homeowner said he looked outside and saw someone inside his van. Sheriff's deputies said the homeowner went outside to confront the burglar and got in front of the getaway car.

The homeowner fired several shots at the car and the burglars attempted to run the man over, deputies said. The burglars sped away in what was believed to be a white Kia Rio.

Sheriff deputies said the homeowner was not hurt and will not be charged in the shooting.

Sheriff deputies said they were not sure if anyone in the car was shot, but they will monitor area hospitals to see if anyone shows up with a gunshot wound.
