Two people attacked a woman inside her apartment in the 6900 block of Vandiver, then stole her savings, San Antonio police said.
The woman said she did not know who attacked her, but had a pretty good idea how they got in. She said only one other person has a key to her apartment.
According to police, the woman was asleep around 7:15 a.m. when her dog alerted her to the intruders.
"The chihuahua kind of woke her up. When she was checking with her little dog, that's when they came in," said San Antonio police Sgt. Ramiro Juarez.
The victim said two people wearing hoodies, bandanas and gloves attacked her from behind.
"She just has a couple of facial injuries from obviously being physically assaulted. There were no weapons used or displayed," said Juarez.
Most of the apartment was left untouched, but the two people went through the contents of the woman's purse and took $1,200 from a zebra-print bag.
That money was supposed to cover her rent, car payment and furniture loan.
The woman said the same person who had the other key to her apartment also knew where she kept her money.
She requested new locks from her apartment manager.
