Woman injured at vigil charged with deadly conduct after firing gun into crowd

Police: Woman was 'aggressor' before being restrained by attendees

SAN ANTONIO – The woman critically injured Wednesday night at a vigil along Highway 281 and Hildebrand Avenue has been charged with deadly conduct after allegedly firing a weapon into the crowd, San Antonio police said Thursday.

According to San Antonio police, the woman went to the vigil upset about not being invited when she began to cause problems at the scene. That's when, police said, she fired a weapon into the crowd around 8:15 p.m.

Attendees fought to take the gun from the woman before someone in attendance pistol-whipped her, police said.

San Antonio police shut down all northbound lanes of Highway 281 near the scene. All lanes reopened around 10:30 p.m.

Police said the woman at first was believed to be the victim before it was later determined that she was allegedly the person responsible.

The woman was treated at an area hospital and will now be booked for deadly conduct. The name of woman has not been released.
