SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police were busy overnight responding to several accidents, including a fatal crash.

The fatal accident happened just after midnight on Huebner Road near Stone Oak Parkway. Police say the driver was speeding when they lost control, jumped a curb and hit a tree. The impact caused the car to catch fire. The driver died at the scene, this morning an investigation is ongoing.

Earlier in the evening, police were called to a rollover accident in the parking lot of the HEB at southeast Military Drive and Goliad Road. According to police, the driver hit a puddle and lost control of the SUV. The vehicle skidded into a tree and then kept going until the vehicle finally flipped. The driver’s 9-year-old son was in the back seat but was not hurt. The driver was arrested on driving while intoxicated and child endangerment charges.

A third accident happened just 2 a.m. on the railroad tracks at Hoefgen Avenue and Essex Street. Police say a Union Pacific conductor saw several people bail from a vehicle that was stuck on the tracks. The train was unable to stop in time, ramming the car into a railroad crossing sign. No one was hurt.

San Antonio police said about an hour later at around 3 a.m. a man was hit by a car.  The victim reportedly drove himself to the 1300 block of South Walters, where he called for help. Police say the man told them his soon-to-be ex-wife ran over him at another location. The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

There was no word Sunday morning on his condition.
