SAN ANTONIO -

A woman is dead after she wrecked her SUV on the county's Northwest side.

It happened on FM 471, just west of Talley Road around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Sgt. E. M. Conger with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit said a woman driving a 2004 Ford SUV was headed east on 471,  going into a curve when for some reason, she veered all the way over to the left side of the road.

"The vehicle was overcorrected, it looks like and took a left, which caused it to start rolling over," said Conger.

The vehicle rolled over several times, crashing into a telephone pole.

Conger said the impact was so severe that the victim had to be cut out of the vehicle.

"It does not have side air bags on it and the operator struck her head," said Conger. "And, at this time, she is deceased."

The woman who was killed in this accident has not been identified, but sheriff officials said she may have been in her 40s or 50s.
