Woman killed in Interstate 35 motorcycle crash identified
SAPD: Matha Broich, 44, fell 20 feet to her death; Juan Alcala, 54, charged with intoxication manslaughter
The woman who investigators said fell off a motorcycle and died Sunday night has been identified.
Police said Martha Broich, 44, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center after the accident, where she later died.
Police said she flew over a wall and fell 20 feet to the road below after the motorcycle on which she was riding struck a wall at a high rate of speed just before 11 a.m. near the South Frio exit on Interstate 35 South.
The motorcycle's driver, 54-year-old Juan Alcala, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
Police investigators said Alcala (pictured) skidded for nearly 40 feet before coming to a fault.
Neither Broich nor Alcala were wearing helmets, investigators said.
Police say Alcala appeared to have been intoxicated.
