SAN ANTONIO -

An argument between a couple inside their Northeast Bexar County home led to a fatal shooting, investigators with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said.

The shooting was reported around 1:15 a.m. Friday at a home in the 9500 block of Bending Crest.

Sheriff's deputies responded and said a 64-year-old man had apparently been shot in the chest by his girlfriend, identified as Minerva Alcorta, during an argument.

She was charged with murder for her boyfriend's death.

"They came home together probably around 11:30 (p.m.) and then about 12:15 (a.m.), I just heard talking," said a neighbor.

The same neighbor later heard an argument and then a thud.

The victim was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center and pronounced dead a short time later. His name has not been released.

Investigators said the shooting took place in a bedroom in the couple's home and at least one shot was fired.

Neighbors said it was not unusual to see deputies at the couple's home.

"I'm not surprised by it," a neighbor said. "The cops are here pretty much a couple times a month."

Investigators said Alcorta is the one who called for help, and she waited at the home for EMS and deputies to arrive.
