CARRIZO SPRINGS, Texas -

Emergency crews in Zavala County responded Monday to more than a dozen high-water rescues after more than 12 inches of rain the day before triggered flooding.

Sheriff Eusevio Salinas said while most of the rescues happened on flooded streets, crews in a jet ski and a boat were sent to a ranch to search for 13 hunters trapped at a deer camp.

"They're not hurt or anything, it's just that they want out," Salinas said.

Salinas said the flooding caused a pipe to burst at a jail, which caused a water outage to the facility. Numerous temporary power outages were also reported at some buildings, Salinas said.

No injuries have been reported and the Red Cross is providing food, water, and other essentials to more than a dozen residents, who had to spend the night in a shelter.

Salinas said crews will be working throughout the evening to see if the displaced residents can return to their homes.
