Dog house competition to take over Maverick Park on Saturday

Barkitecture SA to provide fun, entertainment for dogs, their owners

SAN ANTONIO – Some pretty fancy dog houses will be on display at the inaugural Barkitecture San Antonio on Saturday.

Student from eight local high schools will be competing for top dog house honors.

Four other dog houses will be constructed, including one by University of Texas at San Antonio architecture students. The design by the UTSA students is modeled after a local fire station.

All of the houses will be on display at Maverick Park. After a winner is announced, the houses will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to several organizations.

Barkitecture runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Animal Care Services will be providing free microchipping from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will also be pet exhibitors, a pet costume contest and plenty of entertainment.
