SAN ANTONIO -- The most important issues facing national lawmakers are health care and the economy, said Rep. Ciro Rodriguez during a Wednesday speech.
Rodriguez, a Democrat representing San Antonio, spoke at a luncheon hosted by the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. The congressman said the big issue on the table for Congress is to figure out some sort of health care reform. He said it's a complicated issue, but one that needs to be dealt with.
"One of the key issues that we'll be dealing with as we go back is the issue of health care," he said. "It's one that hits families. It hits small business, just like big businesses, so we're hoping we can come up with something that's cost effective and makes sense," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said another continuing priority will be to improve the economy, but said San Antonio is in better shape that most cities, given the city's strong base with health care.
