SAN ANTONIO -- Gov. Rick Perry has accepted an invitation to attend the all-day celebration at the
Rio Cibolo Ranch east of San Antonio.
Promoters are billing the event as
“a conservative’s Woodstock”. Saturday’s family-friendly Fourth of July event is billed as a celebration with a serious message, said Julia Hayden of the San Antonio Tea Party.
“We are saying, 'Look, we want to go back.' We want to remember who we are and where we came from.” Hayden said that the purpose of the celebration is to educate on the limits and responsibilities of the government. She said more than 2,000 people have already pre-registered to attend, adding that actual attendance could easily double that number.
Admission is free and there will be food and refreshments available for sale. The celebration gets underway at 3 p.m. Guests will be offered free shuttle transportation from the Interstate 10 and Zuehl Road intersection to the Rio Cibolo Ranch.
