SAN ANTONIO -- Former U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez said Tuesday that he plans to challenge the man who took his congressional seat.
Rodriguez, who was in San Antonio for a veteran's convention, said he has received a majority of endorsements from lawmakers in Congress to challenge Henry Cuellar.
The former District 28 representative, who lost to Cuellar by 58 votes in the 2004 election, plans a different strategy in 2006.
"Every time he says something inappropriate, I will be calling him on it," Rodriguez said. "I didn't do that the last time. I expect to have a fight."
Rodriguez plans to formally announce his candidacy Oct. 15.
Richard Raymond, a former state lawmaker, also plans to challenge Cuellar.
