Home plumbing: How to know when your pipes need maintenance

SAN ANTONIO – Every house is filled with plumbing -- but how should homeowners keep their pipes in good shape?

“Most people aren’t going to check (their pipes) regularly,” Haley Hawkins, with Will’s All Pro, said.

Hawkins had some advice for homeowners whose pipes have begun to erode.

“Have a licensed professional come out to check your water heater every three years,” Hawkins said.

She said to replace water heater pipes within four years or unwanted leaks or other complications could occur

“Water heaters leak when your pipes are not maintained,” she said.
