Visionworks' Let's Go See program changes lives in San Antonio

Many parents take their children for yearly dental and doctor checkups, but often wait for their child to express an issue before making an appointment with an eye doctor.

Visionworks is attempting to change that way of thinking.

“One out of every four kids has a vision issue that they need corrected,” said Jim Eisen, president of Visionworks. “The important thing is that you start young, because 80 percent of what children learn, they learn through their eyes.”

Through their Let’s Go See movement, Visionworks has committed to donating 10,000 eye exams and glasses in the 2015-2016 school year nationwide.

Let’s Go See recently went to Edgewood Independent School District, where several kids were able to receive the exams and glasses they needed.

“I was so upset because I couldn’t see that well. I had to sit in front of the class,” said 15-year-old Ariattna. “I have seen so much improvement… it’s never going to be a problem anymore.”

“Visionworks is 100 percent committed to helping as many of these kids as we possibly can,” said Eisen.
