Clemens Linked To John Daly's Ex-Wife

Affair Allegedly Began After Golfer, Wife Split

Roger Clemens' personal life was back in the news Thursday when the New York Daily News reported that the pitcher had a relationship with golfer John Daly's ex-wife, Paulette Dean Daly.

Clemens, who is married with four children, arranged trips to Anaheim Stadium for Paulette Dean Daly to watch him pitch for the Yankees against the Angels, sources told the Daily News. He also allegedly spent time with her in Palm Springs, Calif. The two reportedly met at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, a golf tournament in Palm Springs that Daly has been involved with. Clemens was said to have attended tournament events as recent as two years ago, the Daily News reported.

"Yeah, I've known Roger quite a while and we are friends," Paulette Dean Daly told the Daily News on Wednesday.

Daly didn't elaborate on the nature of her relationship with Clemens, but she did not deny any allegations.

When the Daily News asked her if she was romantically involved with the seven-time Cy Young Award winner, Daly said, "You know what? I'm really uncomfortable talking about this. I'm just going to have to say 'no comment.'"

According to the Daily News, Clemens' relationship with Daly began after her marriage to the golfer ended.

John Daly, an American golfer who has struggled with a drinking problem throughout his career, married Daly in 1995. The two split shortly after the golfer was treated for alcohol poisoning at the 1997 Players Championship.

Earlier this week, allegations surfaced that Clemens had a long-term affair with country music singer Mindy McCready. Clemens' attorney denied that claims, saying that they were friends but did not have a sexual relationship. McCready acknowledged that the two did have a romantic relationship.

The claims come as Clemens is pursuing a defamation suit against his former trainer Brian McNamee, who accused the former pitcher of using performance-enhancing drugs.

Clemens is also under investigation for perjury after he told Congress and federal officials that he never took steroids.
