The Air Force Academy fired men's basketball coach Jeff Reynolds on Wednesday.

The surprising move came on the heels of a six-game losing streak that dropped the team to 11-10 and 1-6 in the Mountain West Conference.

However, Air Force athletic director Hans Mueh said he made the move because Reynolds was taking the fun out of the game for the players.

Assistant coach Dave Pilipovich was elevated to interim coach by Mueh.

Reynolds, who had two years remaining on his contract, leaves the school with a 63-82 record.
