The shopping and spending on the NFL’s free-agent market have been brisk but the Indianapolis Colts probably aren’t finished. “We want to add another wide receiver if we can,” owner Jim Irsay reaffirmed during a phone call from the owners meetings in Phoenix, Ariz. Irsay first broached the subject publicly over the weekend via Twitter. He revealed during his conversation with The Indianapolis Star that the team was close to signing a veteran free agent — not arranging a trade for a player under contract — but the negotiations hit a snag. “It was going along pretty decent,” Irsay said, “but you know how it goes. It’s a roller-coaster ride.” He declined to identify the targeted player. According to Scouts Inc., available receivers among its top 100 remaining free agents include Brandon Lloyd, Laurent Robinson and Darrius Heyward-Bey. Lloyd, 31, might be too old to add to a developing roster. Robinson, 27, and Heyward-Bey, 26, seem more likely options. Heyward-Bey was Oakland’s 2009 first-round draft pick who never fully fulfilled expectations, while Robinson was a third-round pick of Atlanta in 2007. Robinson was with Jacksonville in 2012, his fourth team. Robinson had 858 yards and 11 touchdowns for Dallas in 2011 but slumped to 252 and 0 scores last season. Heyward-Bay had 975 yards and four touchdowns in 2011 but just 606 yards and five scores last season.
