The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to use their franchise tag on malcontent wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing multiple NFL sources, reported that applying the tag on Jackson will give the team the option of keeping him, trading him or signing him to a long-term contract.
The last scenario seems the least likely after Jackson sulked through last season when the team did not rework his contract.
Jackson was benched for one game for missing a team meeting and was accused of going through the motions during some games.
After the season, Jackson apologized to his team for letting his contract situation become a distraction and said he would be fine if the Eagles used their franchise tag on him.
Jackson finished the campaign with 58 catches, 961 yards and four touchdowns.
