Ninth-ranked Kansas could use a breather following a pulsating double-overtime win at Oklahoma State on Wednesday in a showdown for first place in the Big 12. The Jayhawks need not worry about a letdown, however, when the league's worst team, Texas Christian, visits Kansas on Saturday. The Horned Frogs have won once in conference play, taking down the Jayhawks 62-55 on Feb. 6. That defeated prompted Kansas coach Bill Self to say it was the worst team the school has put on the floor "since Dr. Naismith was there."
TCU's stunning upset of the Jayhawks was its first-ever win in the Big 12, but the Horned Frogs have reverted to their losing ways since that landmark victory by dropping their last four games. TCU has won only once away from home -- at Rice on Dec. 22 -- and has been overwhelmed in six conference road games, losing by an average of 21.3 points. The Horned Frogs have lost 12 of 13 overall.
TV: 4 p.m. ET, Big 12 Television Network.
ABOUT TCU (10-16, 1-12 Big 12): Scoring has been the biggest problem for the Horned Frogs, who have cracked 60 points only once in the past 13 games -- in the victory over Kansas. Garlon Green scored 20 points to spark the upset of the Jayhawks, but he went into an awful shooting slump in the next three games, connecting on only 6-of-32 shots and scoring a total of 15 points before starting to come around with a 15-point outing in a 68-59 home loss to Texas on Tuesday.
ABOUT KANSAS (22-4, 10-3): As if the revenge factor wasn't enough of an obstacle for TCU, the Jayhawks will have plenty of emotion on their side when they celebrate 115 years of basketball and the 25-year anniversary of the 1988 NCAA championship on Saturday. The victory over Oklahoma State was Kansas' third straight following a three-game skid and kept them in a tie atop the Big 12 with Kansas State. Center Jeff Withey is riding a streak of three straight double-doubles, including 17 points and 14 boards against Oklahoma State.
1. Kansas is 14-1 at home this season, losing only to Oklahoma State.
2. Sophomore Kyan Anderson leads TCU in scoring (11.2 points), 3-pointers (38), assists (89) and steals (39).
3. Self needs two wins to reach 500 for his career.
PREDICTION: Kansas 74, TCU 53
