The Kansas City Royals have exercised the 2013 option on manager Ned Yost's contract, the team announced on Tuesday.

Yost replaced Trey Hillman as manager of the Royals on May 13, 2010, and is entering his second full season with the club.

Kansas City has a 126-163 record under Yost, who is the 16th full-time manager in team history.

The 57-year-old previously managed the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003-2008.
