Bond leads balanced assault by Sam Houston State in 82-31 victory against Hardin-Simmons
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Will Bond scored 14 points to lead four Sam Houston State players in double figures as the Bearkats overwhelmed Hardin-Simmons 82-31 on Tuesday night.
Marquel McKinney added 13 points and Jeremy McKay and James Thomas 12 points each for Sam Houston State (1-1).
Eric Taylor scored 11 points for Hardin-Simmons, a Division III school in Abilene, Texas, that classified the game as an exhibition.
The Bearkats shot 43.8 percent (28 of 64) from the field, including 13 3-point baskets, and enjoyed a 48-35 rebounding advantage. Michael Holyfield had 12 boards.
Sam Houston State forced 27 turnovers, turning them into 35 points. Darius Gatson had five steals.
